Trina Storage Earns Eighth BNEF Tier-1 Ranking as Pakistan’s Solar Use Surges Past National Grid
Global clean-tech company Trina Storage has once again strengthened its position in the renewable energy sector after being named a Tier 1 Energy Storage Manufacturer by BloombergNEF (BNEF) for the eighth consecutive quarter.
This achievement places the company among the world’s most reliable and bankable energy-storage providers, a status awarded only to manufacturers with strong project financing, proven performance and credible technology.
Explaining the significance of this milestone, Mr. Yang Bao, President of the Energy Storage Division at Trinasolar, said that eight straight Tier-1 recognitions reflect the long-term trust their partners have placed in the company. He added that Trina Storage is committed to supplying high-quality, innovative and future-ready storage systems to support a net-zero future.
Trina Storage’s consistent ranking highlights its stability and long-term vision at a time when global energy markets are changing rapidly. The company has now expanded its presence to 23 service centers in more than 100 countries, helping support markets where energy storage is shifting from a specialised technology to an essential part of national power systems.
In recent months, the company has announced major projects across Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America. It is also involved in one of Latin America’s largest standalone battery storage projects. A recent MoU with Pacific Green Energy Group will see Trina Storage supply up to 5GWh of large-scale battery systems between 2026 and 2028 to support stronger national power grids.
By the first half of 2025, Trina Storage’s total global shipments of energy-storage systems crossed 12GWh, and its annual shipments for 2025 are expected to reach 8GWh, further strengthening its global market position.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is experiencing a solar boom unlike anything in its history. According to recent estimates, the country generated nearly 33GW of solar power during peak summer, more than the 28–30GW supplied by the national grid.
This shift is driven by rising electricity prices and repeated power outages, pushing homes, businesses, and industries to adopt rooftop solar for financial relief and stability.
New figures from NEPRA show that net-metering output (excluding Karachi) has almost doubled in a year, rising from around 80GWh per month in late 2024 to 174GWh per month by mid-2025. In April, during peak sunshine, it even crossed 300GWh. According to the UK-based energy think tank Ember, Pakistan is now among Asia’s top countries for solar-power penetration, ahead of both China and India.
As solar adoption grows at record speed, the need for reliable and scalable energy-storage solutions has become more urgent. Trina Storage’s latest Tier 1 recognition comes at a moment when Pakistan’s energy system is entering a critical phase. The company’s global readiness signals that the storage sector is prepared to support Pakistan’s next big step in clean energy.
