General Mirza given ceremonial farewell after 40 years of service
A special farewell ceremony was held at the Joint Staff Headquarters on Wednesday to honour General Sahir Shamshad Mirza as he stepped down after completing 40 years of military service marked by professionalism, leadership and national commitment.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the event was attended by former Chairmen Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and senior officers from all three services, who paid tribute to the outgoing CJCSC’s career and contributions to national defence.
In his address, General Mirza thanked Allah Almighty for enabling him to serve the country with dedication and integrity over four decades.
He lauded the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces and paid homage to the martyrs and their families, calling them the nation’s “pride and honour.”
General Mirza said the current geo-strategic environment underscored the need for a strong national defence, which he described as a key pillar of national security.
He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s defence remains “impregnable” and said the country’s officers and soldiers stand ready to further strengthen the defence of the motherland.
Earlier, upon his arrival, a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent presented him with a guard of honour, followed by warm farewell greetings and best wishes from serving and former military leaders.
ISPR noted that General Mirza’s four decades of service will remain a source of pride for the nation and the armed forces.
