Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday said the ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between Pakistan and the United States would help formulate a joint strategy to combat terrorism.

He made the remarks during a meeting with US Coordinator for Counterterrorism Gregory LoGerfo at the Ministry of Interior in Islamabad.

Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry, Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker, and the federal interior secretary also attended.

Naqvi said Pakistan–US relations had improved significantly in recent years, noting that transparency, mutual trust, and cooperation were the hallmarks of the partnership.

He stressed that the current momentum was an excellent opportunity to deepen ties in all areas.

The minister welcomed the US decision to designate the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and Majeed Brigade as foreign terrorist organisations, calling it a commendable step.

He expressed hope that enhanced cooperation would yield positive results in eliminating terrorism.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to boost collaboration in counterterrorism, border security, and counter-narcotics, and to strengthen intelligence sharing.
