Nation remembers Karbala as president, PM highlight Imam Hussain’s legacy
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their messages to the nation on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashura, paid homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (may Allah be pleased with him) and his devoted companions, calling their sacrifices a shared heritage of the Muslim Ummah.
President Zardari said Youm-e-Ashura embodies the message of sacrifice, truth, and steadfast resolve. He noted that this day commemorates the great martyrdom in Karbala, which established an eternal symbol of resistance against falsehood.
He described Karbala as an unparalleled story of patience, loyalty, and sacrifice that will continue to inspire humanity for all time, adding that it serves as a beacon of truth in every era.
In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described Youm-e-Ashura as a significant and instructive day in Islamic history. He said that Imam Hussain and his loyal companions laid down their lives for the supremacy of Islam and its principles.
The Prime Minister emphasized that their sacrifice teaches lessons of patience, perseverance, and adherence to principles, serving as a guiding light for humanity.
He added that in the face of numerous challenges confronting the nation today, it is vital to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Imam Hussain.
He further said the Imam’s struggle is a remarkable example of unity, determination, and commitment to the truth, and his sacrifice remains a valuable asset for the entire Muslim world.
