Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met with US President Donald Trump at the White House during his official visit to the United States on Wednesday. The meeting, though brief, covered a range of important regional and bilateral matters.

According to official sources, President Trump hosted a luncheon in honor of Field Marshal Asim Munir upon his arrival. The meeting was attended by senior members of the Trump administration as well as the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

During the engagement, Field Marshal Asim Munir briefed President Trump on the current Pakistan-India situation, including regional tensions and prospects for peace. The two leaders also discussed broader regional stability and the strategic partnership between Pakistan and the United States.

Field Marshal Asim Munir emphasized the need to further strengthen US-Pakistan relations. After the meeting, he departed from the White House.

This encounter marks a historic moment, as it is reportedly the first meeting of a Pakistani Army Chief with a sitting US President at the White House. Observers view it as a reflection of growing international recognition of Pakistan’s military leadership and its pivotal role in maintaining regional peace.

Sources also highlighted that Field Marshal Munir was invited to the White House ahead of any Indian delegation — a move seen as a clear signal of Pakistan’s strategic significance in current US foreign policy priorities.

Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of the meeting, media representatives and journalists were not be permitted to attend.

Also, on Tuesday, he met with members of the Pakistani diaspora in Washington, D.C.

Field Marshal Asim Munir was warmly received by a large gathering of overseas Pakistanis who turned out to welcome him.

President Trump Lauds Pakistan

Earlier, in a press briefing at the White House, President Trump praised Pakistan and its people, stating, “I really like Pakistan. The people there are wonderful.”

He recalled his efforts to de-escalate tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors Pakistan and India, saying he helped prevent war and encouraged both nations toward trade and diplomacy.

President Trump also recognized Field Marshal Asim Munir as a powerful figure in Pakistan’s leadership, crediting him with playing a key role in promoting peace and ensuring the recent ceasefire in the region.

This high-profile meeting reaffirms Pakistan’s role as a regional stabilizer and reflects growing confidence in its military leadership on the global stage.
