India’s military makes the claim on X as its media becomes laughing stock for falsehood Defense Minister Asif rejects claims Pakistan attacked three Indian bases

Pakistani Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has denied claims made by the Indian Army about a massive Pakistani attack on India.

The Indian military on Thursday night claimed Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks on three military installations located in Jammu, Udhampur in Indian-held Kashmir, and Pathankot in Indian Punjab.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Army claimed that no damage or casualties had been reported as a result of the alleged attacks. According to the statement, the missiles and drones fired from across the border were intercepted and destroyed before they could inflict harm.

In response to the accusations, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly denied any Pakistani involvement in the attacks. Speaking to BBC News journalist Azadeh Moshiri, he said: “I categorically deny this—we have not carried out any such attack.”

The minister added, “If we do launch an attack, everyone will know. We will not attack and then deny it.”

The development came shortly after Indian news outlets first claimed that Pakistan had launched a massive attack on India from Bhuj in the south-western Indian state of Gujarat to Kashmir in the north.

These fake claims were rejected by Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar.

Indian media then made further claims about Indian attacks in Pakistani cities. TV channels like India Today became a laughing stock for claiming that the Indian Navy had destroyed Karachi port. There was another fake claim about an attack on Lahore.

The claims were so hilarious that some Indian journalists rose up to call them out.

Newslaundry journalist Manisha Pande wrote on X, “Appalling how large sections of Indian media are simply lying. The scale of misinformation right now is terrifying. The abdication of basic journalistic principles is unprecedented—even by our already low standards. Poor GD Bakshi is having to tell anchors about the fog of war and not believe everything they are hearing!!”

Indian social media users have uploaded images and video from the Gaza conflict with captions claiming that Pakistani missiles were being intercepted by the Indian missile defense system.

India declared a blackout in several cities, including New Delhi, on Thursday night, claiming it was being attacked by Pakistani drones, missiles, and aircraft.

At one point, Indian journalists claimed that India had captured a Pakistani pilot, but then they backpedaled on it. Ataullah Tarar rejected this claim too.
