Pakistani security sources have categorically rejected Indian media claims of an attack on Indian-occupied Kashmir, terming the reports “fake and fabricated.”

According to official sources, the false narrative being pushed by Indian media is a desperate attempt to portray that Pakistan is involved in cross-border aggression, to justify India’s own unprovoked hostilities.

“These fabricated stories are part of a calculated disinformation campaign by India to continue its naked aggression against Pakistan under false pretences,” security officials said, adding that there is no truth whatsoever in these reports.

The clarification comes amid heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours following a deadly Indian strike on Pakistani civilian areas.

IPL match called off

In what appears to be another dramatic move, India has once again attempted to portray Pakistan as a threat—this time by targeting its own sporting events. The Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Dharamshala was abruptly halted on Thursday, with officials citing a potential “security threat” allegedly linked to Pakistan.

According to reports, the match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings was underway, with 10.1 overs bowled, when officials suddenly called off the game without providing a detailed explanation. The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium, located just 80 kilometres from Pathankot, was at the centre of the security scare, which Indian media conveniently linked to a supposed threat from across the border.

Indian media outlets have begun amplifying claims of a potential attack on Pathankot—a narrative Pakistani officials have dismissed as baseless and part of a larger propaganda campaign.

Interestingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had already shifted the May 11 IPL fixture originally scheduled in Dharamshala to Ahmedabad, further fueling speculation that the sudden cancellation was pre-planned to serve a political narrative.

Observers in Pakistan have labelled the move as a “theatrical stunt” designed to divert attention from internal issues and to build an anti-Pakistan sentiment ahead of key domestic developments in India.

Background

On the night of May 6 and 7, India launched what Pakistani officials described as a cowardly attack under the cover of darkness, targeting multiple civilian locations across the country — a move seen as a declaration of war.

In response, Pakistan’s armed forces retaliated with precision strikes, downing five Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale aircraft, and destroying several military check posts and a brigade headquarters. Indian forces reportedly raised white flags at the Chura complex along the Line of Control (LoC), signalling a surrender.

Furthermore, the National Security Committee (NSC) has granted full authority to the Pakistan Armed Forces to respond to Indian aggression in a manner and time of their choosing. Pakistan has reaffirmed its resolve to respond decisively and forcefully to any attack on its sovereignty.
