Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar has categorically denied reports that Pakistan targeted any locations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Indian forces shot down Pakistan fighter jets.

In a statement posted on social media late Thursday night, Tarar said, “Pakistan has not targeted any locations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir, or across the international border, so far. Neither has any loss been incurred by PAF [Pakistan Air Force].”

Slamming Indian media, he accused it of deliberately spreading disinformation to fabricate a false sense of success. “Indian media is always spreading disinformation either to create or craft a fake notion of success before publicly accepting their embarrassing losses during their unprovoked aggression on the night of 6/7 May 2025,” the minister added.

Tarar emphasised that Pakistan’s actions thus far have been purely defensive and urged the international community to take note of the situation. “We have only given a defensive response so far! International community may take note,” he said.

Tarar also responded to Indian reports alleging that the Indian military had shot down a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) F-16 and a JF-17 fighter jet amid rising regional tensions.

“These are fake and concocted stories that will get you nowhere,” said the minister. “Such false claims only reflect your desperation. Denied and rejected,” he added.

The statement comes as both countries continue to trade accusations following a flare-up along the Line of Control and reported missile and drone attacks.

Earlier, Tarar had also accused Indian media of spreading misinformation to cover up its own military setbacks during what Pakistan describes as an unprovoked Indian aggression on the night of May 6–7.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours following a wave of military incidents along the Line of Control and reports of drone incursions.
