Lahore, Karachi airports shut amid tensions; flight operations suspended
Pakistan has once again closed its airspace over Lahore due to operational reasons, with Lahore and Sialkot airports remaining shut for passenger flights until 6am tomorrow amid rising tensions with India.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, both airports are temporarily unavailable for commercial operations. Passengers have been advised to stay in contact with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates.
While the exact reasons behind the airspace closure have not been officially disclosed, officials hinted it could be linked to security concerns or weather-related issues.
Earlier this morning, flight operations at Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Islamabad airports were also briefly suspended due to heightened tensions following India’s overnight air strikes and Pakistan’s robust military retaliation.

Security sources confirmed that multiple Indian drones violated Pakistani airspace earlier today but were successfully intercepted and shot down by Pakistani forces.
Karachi airport flight operations suspended until midnight amid regional tensions
Flight operations at Karachi airport have been suspended until midnight due to operational reasons, according to a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by airport authorities.
The suspension, which initially began at 11:00am, has been extended by an additional six hours. The delay has left several outbound flights, including those of Qatar Airways, Jazeera Airways, Air Arabia, and FlyDubai, waiting for departure for over ten hours.
As a result of the suspension, 43 flights have been cancelled while 65 others face uncertainty.
Earlier today, flight operations were also temporarily halted at Lahore, Karachi, Sialkot, and Islamabad airports amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India.
The disruption follows a series of cross-border incidents, including Indian drone incursions into Pakistani territory last night and earlier today. Security forces successfully shot down the intruding drones, retaliating swiftly after India launched overnight attacks on Pakistani cities between Tuesday and Wednesday.
