The Islamabad administration has announced a substantial increase in vehicle transfer fees, which will come into effect from April 14.

The revised rates will apply to both conventional and electric vehicles, as well as motorcycles.

According to the new structure, the transfer fee for vehicles up to 1000cc has been raised from Rs1,200 to Rs2,750. Vehicles ranging from 1000cc to 1800cc will now incur a fee of Rs5,500, up from the previous Rs2,000. For vehicles above 1800cc, the fee has been increased significantly from Rs3,000 to Rs11,000.

In a first, transfer charges have also been introduced for electric vehicles. EVs with a capacity of up to 50kW will be charged Rs2,500, while those between 50kW and 100kW will face a fee of Rs5,500. For EVs exceeding 100kW, the transfer fee has been set at Rs10,000.

Motorcycle transfer fees have also seen a hike. Bikes up to 200cc will now require a payment of Rs550, up from Rs150. For bikes between 200cc and 400cc, the fee has been set at Rs1,000, and for those above 400cc, Rs1,500.

The collected fees are to be deposited into the account designated by the Ministry of Finance.

The move is expected to enhance revenue collection and regulate vehicle ownership transfers more effectively.
