A high-level US Congressional delegation met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to discuss bilateral cooperation and sign Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) related to training collaboration in the field of Information Technology.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the delegation was led by Congressman Jack Bergman, accompanied by Congressmen Thomas Suozzi and Jonathan Jackson.

During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on matters of mutual interest, particularly focusing on regional security and defense cooperation. The discussions emphasized the importance of sustained engagement based on mutual respect, shared values, and strategic interests.

The US lawmakers commended the Pakistan Armed Forces for their significant role in the global fight against terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan’s invaluable contributions to regional peace and stability. The delegation also appreciated Pakistan’s strategic importance and the unwavering resolve of its people.

General Munir welcomed the delegation’s visit and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to deepen and expand its long-standing partnership with the United States. He emphasized a relationship that is mutually beneficial and rooted in the respect for each nation’s national interests.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of MoUs aimed at enhancing training cooperation in the information technology sector — a step seen as a move toward strengthening Pakistan-U.S. ties through technological capacity building.
