How much you will pay after electricity prices reduction: New tariff notified
The new pricing structure will decrease the national average tariff from Rs45.05 to Rs37.64 per unit.
On April 3, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a decrease of Rs7.41 in electricity prices for residential consumers after receiving approval from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to reduce tariff differentials.
The overall reduction ranges from Rs6.14 to Rs8.58 per unit, which has lowered the average tariff.
Key changes in electricity rates:
1. Lifeline Consumers:
- Up to 50 Units: Rate remains at 4.78 rupees per unit.
- 51 to 100 Units: Rate remains at 9.37 rupees per unit.
2. Protected Consumers:
- 1 to 100 Units: Price reduced by Rs6.14 rupees, now set at Rs8.52 rupees per unit, down from Rs14.67 rupees.
- 101 to 200 Units: Price reduced by Rs6.14 rupees, now set at Rs11.51 rupees per unit, down from Rs17.65 rupees.
3. Non-Protected Consumers:
- Up to 300 Units: Price reduced by Rs7.24, now set at Rs34.03 per unit, down from Rs41.26.
- Above 300 Units: Price reduced from Rs55.70 to Rs48.46 per unit, reflecting a decrease of Rs7.24.
4. Domestic Consumers:
- Price reduced by Rs6.71, now set at Rs31.63 per unit, down from Rs38.34.
5. Commercial Consumers:
- Price reduced by Rs8.58, now set at Rs62.47 per unit, down from Rs71.06.
6. General Services Category:
- Price reduced by Rs7.18, now set at Rs49.48 per unit, down from Rs56.66.
7. Industrial Consumers:
- Price reduced by Rs7.69, now set at Rs40.51 per unit, down from Rs48.19.
8. Bulk Consumers:
- Price reduced by Rs7.18, now set at Rs47.87 per unit, down from Rs55.05.
9. Agricultural Consumers:
- Price reduced by Rs7.18, now set at Rs34.58 per unit, down from Rs41.76.
The price for electricity in Azad Kashmir and other regions has been reduced by Rs6.99, setting the new rate at Rs32.69 per unit, down from Rs39.68.
