Owaisi slams Indian government; tears copy of controversial Waqf Bill in parliament
The Modi government has introduced a new controversial law aimed at taking control of Muslim Waqf properties, including mosques and graveyards. Muslim leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi, have raised their voices against this sinister plan and demanded immediate intervention from the United Nations.
Hyderabad’s Member of Parliament, Asaduddin Owaisi, tore up the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill in protest as it was presented for approval in the Indian Lok Sabha.
Asaduddin Owaisi stated that there are more than 872,000 Waqf properties in India, and the Modi government’s sinister plan is to bring these properties under government control. He further claimed that the law has been designed to seize Waqf properties.
According to Indian media reports, the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill, proposed by the ruling BJP, was passed in the Lok Sabha yesterday after a heated debate.

The Modi government claimed that the bill aims to improve the management of Waqf properties, but the opposition has labelled it a government conspiracy to usurp these assets.
The Indian opposition strongly opposed the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the bill, stating that it violates Articles 25 and 26 of the Indian Constitution.
During the debate, Owaisi argued that the Waqf Bill is unjust to Muslims and aimed at humiliating them. Expressing his protest, he declared, “I will tear this bill apart like Gandhi.”
Owaisi further stated that when Mahatma Gandhi faced a similar law in Africa, he refused to accept it and tore it apart—and he would do the same with this bill, as it is unconstitutional.
He accused the BJP of creating divisions in the country based on temples and mosques, strongly condemning their actions.
Muslim leaders have asserted that the bill is designed to seize Waqf properties while protecting Hindu religious trusts. They have called on the United Nations to take immediate notice of this violation of fundamental rights.
