NHMP issues travel advisory for post-Eid al-Fitr traffic surge
The National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) has issued a travel advisory following a significant increase in traffic on motorways and national highways after the Eid al-Fitr.
Motorists are urged to perform essential checks on their vehicles, including engine oil, water levels, tire pressure, and brakes, before setting out.
The NHMP emphasizes the importance of wearing seatbelts, adhering to speed limits, maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and following lane discipline.
For those planning long-distance travel, drivers are advised to be well-rested and to take breaks every two to two-and-a-half hours to prevent fatigue.
The authorities strongly discourage driving while drowsy or exhausted.
Passengers using public transport are encouraged to report any instances of overloading or overcharging to the Motorway Police helpline.
In anticipation of the traffic surge, the NHMP has increased personnel deployment and enhanced patrolling on major routes.
Road safety briefings are also being conducted at all toll plazas to raise awareness among travelers.
For any assistance or emergencies, commuters can contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.
