Rawalpindi Zakat office announces increase in financial assistance for needy people
The Zakat office in Rawalpindi district has announced an increase in financial assistance for those in need, boosting the monthly subsistence allowance by Rs500 and increasing the dowry fund for underprivileged girls by Rs75,000 this Eid ul-Fitr.
However, for Punjab, 10,000 deserving individuals in the Rawalpindi Division will not receive financial aid during Eid ul-Fitr, which may affect their festive celebrations.
In response, monthly aid for widows and impoverished families has been raised from Rs1,500 to Rs2,000, while the dowry fund has increased from Rs25,000 to Rs100,000.
Many individuals expecting Eid assistance from Zakat offices have been left disappointed.
According to the Zakat Committee Administrator at Deputy Commissioner Hassan Waqar Cheema’s office, Rs2.4 billion has been allocated for deserving families in Rawalpindi.
However, due to time constraints, it will not be possible to distribute the Eid gifts before Eidul Fitr.
Instead, beneficiaries will receive a total of Rs24,000 per family for the year through the newly increased monthly allowance of Rs2,000.
The lists of eligible recipients are finalized, and fund distribution is set to take place from April 7 to April 14.
Furthermore, visually impaired individuals in the district will also receive Rs24,000 annually, distributed at Rs2,000 per month.
