Burqa-clad man arrested in Lahore amid police crackdown on harassment
Lahore police have apprehended three individuals wearing burqas for harassing and troubling women in the Valencia Town Market.
This arrest is part of a broader operation that took place last night, during which a total of six individuals were detained for similar offenses across various commercial centers.
According to police reports, the three harassers were apprehended by officers from the Haloki police station while on patrol in the market area.
The accused, identified as Ali, Zohaib, and Faizan, were targeting families shopping for Eid and causing distress. A case has been registered against them, and the investigation has been handed over to the appropriate authorities.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) for Model Town stated that robust security measures are being implemented at important locations to ensure the safety of women.
A Women’s Police Squad has been established to provide protection in markets and shopping areas.
This squad is conducting foot and bicycle patrols and has also detained six individuals for harassing women during its operations.

As incidents of theft and harassment tend to rise during the last week of Eid shopping, police have established friendly patrol squads in 65 major commercial centers around the city.
The goal of these patrols is to deter criminal activities and offer a secure environment for shoppers.
Officers involved in the friendly patrols assured that their presence would prevent harassment and deter potential criminals, with many locals reporting a sense of safety due to the squad’s deployment.
