In a similar incident, gunfire directed at a car led to the death of a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) officer. It injured another individual, as armed assailants also set the vehicle ablaze at a Levies checkpoint in Mastung.

Widespread condemnation from leaders

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the attacks, stating that terrorists are enemies of national progress and Balochistan’s stability.

He extended condolences to the victims’ families and prayed for the recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the targeted killings, describing them as acts of barbarism. He ordered authorities to provide the best medical care to the injured and ensure the perpetrators face justice.

“These cowardly attacks reflect the inhumanity of such elements, but we will not allow them to succeed in their nefarious designs,” he said.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed these sentiments, calling the attack on passengers a heinous act.

“Targeting innocent civilians is a crime against humanity,” he said, vowing that such actions would not weaken the nation’s resolve against terrorism.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also condemned the attack, stating that executing travelers after identifying them was an unforgivable crime.

“We stand with the bereaved families and will ensure justice is served,” he said, adding that the war against terrorism will continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.

The latest killings follow another deadly attack in Balochistan’s Mangchar area, where four labourers from Punjab were shot dead while installing a tube well.
