Karak police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) launched a joint operation, demolishing and setting fire to hideouts used by key commanders and operatives of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

District Police Officer (DPO) Karak, Shahbaz Elahi, stated that security forces have tightened the noose around militants and initiated targeted operations.

During the operation in the rugged terrains of Bahadarkhel, police and CTD forces destroyed and torched TTP’s secure hideouts.

“These hideouts were being used by TTP militants for organised planning of attacks against police and security forces,” said DPO Elahi.

He further revealed that TTP commander Kaleemullah orchestrated attacks from these locations. The same armed group was responsible for the Bahadarkhel check post assault and the Isak Khumari bank robbery.

Advanced weaponry and technology used

The operation involved police commandos, elite force units, Quick Response Force (15), and CTD personnel, who employed advanced weaponry, modern equipment, and drone technology. The terrorists, however, managed to flee the area.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist incidents, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In response, the government convened the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting on March 18 to address the growing threat.

The committee’s statement strongly condemned recent terrorist activities and emphasised the need for national unity in counterterrorism efforts.

The political and military leadership reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism in all its forms, utilizing all available resources and strategies
