IPL: Chennai Super Kings faces allegations of ball tempering, match fixing after win over Mumbai Indians
Chennai Super Kings has secured a spectacular victory in their first match of IPL 2025, defeating their traditional rivals Mumbai Indians by four wickets.
After restricting Mumbai Indians to just 155 runs in 20 overs, Chennai Super Kings successfully chased down the target in 19.1 overs. Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s brilliant innings played a key role in securing the victory for Chennai.
Following this remarkable win, a video went viral on social media, leading fans to accuse Chennai Super Kings of ball tampering and match-fixing.
The video clearly shows Chennai Super Kings’ fast bowler Khalil Ahmed cleaning the ball during a conversation, but without using a towel. Fans have accused him of rubbing a prohibited substance on the ball.
The second part of the video shows a scene where Chennai Super Kings’ former captain MS Dhoni is seen having a conversation with the on-field umpire.
Dhoni is seen speaking to the umpire, who responds with a thumbs-up gesture.
Although the purpose of the conversation was unclear, fans found it suspicious and began speculating that Dhoni and the umpire might be involved in some wrongful act.

These allegations have been completely dismissed as baseless, as Chennai Super Kings played an outstanding game in this match and defeated Mumbai Indians in every aspect.
With Chennai Super Kings’ victory, they have moved to the top position on the IPL 2025 points table, while Mumbai Indians have yet to secure a win in any match.
