In an effort to combat street crime during the busy shopping season leading up to Eid, Lahore police have deployed women cycle squads in markets for the first time.

This initiative addresses the increased shopping activity as families visit commercial areas during the final 10 days of Ramadan. Police have identified 92 crime hotspots and stationed 1,000 male officers alongside female personnel to enhance security.

To safeguard female shoppers, authorities have implemented special measures, deploying female officers and cycle squads, which consist of both male and female plainclothes officers, at strategic locations to tackle harassment incidents. Legal action will be taken against those harassing or misbehaving with women.

The Lahore police have rolled out an integrated security plan to ensure public safety, deploying over 4,000 officers across the city. This includes dedicated patrol teams and specialized monitoring units.

Surveillance has been intensified on repeat offenders and criminal activity, with additional deployments at 65 high-traffic shopping areas and increased undercover patrols to observe suspicious behavior.

A total of 226 checkpoints have been established in sensitive areas to prevent criminal incidents. Banking hours have been aligned with patrol schedules to deter robberies and snatchings, while mobile police teams monitor banks, markets, and bazaars.

Advanced surveillance technologies such as night vision binoculars and drone cameras have been introduced for nighttime oversight.

Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran outlined the security measures, detailing the deployment of six SPs, 22 sub-divisional officers, 83 SHOs, 473 senior personnel, 3,367 constables, and 34 female officers.

Increased patrolling has been arranged on key routes and shopping hubs through the Elite Force, Dolphin Squad, and police response units.

More than 90 hotspots have been identified for targeted surveillance, and 55 areas have been selected for checkpoints to address illegal motorcycle activities.
