Karachi braces for heatwave with temperatures expected to surpass 37°C this weekend
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted hot weather for Karachi on Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to exceed 37 degrees Celsius.
On Friday, the city recorded a temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius.
The Met Office noted in its daily forecast that intense sunlight throughout the day contributed to relatively high temperatures, with a minimum of 21.1 degrees Celsius recorded in the morning.
The heat was further intensified by unusually low wind speeds during the afternoon.
According to the Early Warning Center, “hot conditions are likely to persist over the weekend, with northwest winds from Balochistan expected to blow in during the morning hours.”
However, the center also stated that “sea breezes are anticipated to become active later in the day.”
Despite these temperatures, the Met Office stated that low humidity levels should prevent a significant increase in heat intensity.
Most areas in the province are expected to remain warm and dry, the PMD reported in its daily forecast.
Experts added that the weather in Karachi is currently clear and sunny, with humidity levels at 86 percent. The maximum temperature recorded in the past 24 hours was 36.9 degrees Celsius.
