What is Pakistan’s ranking in World Happiness Report 2025?

People of Pakistan are relatively happier than people from neighboring countries than Afghanistan and India.

On Thursday, the World Happiness Report 2024 was released by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

The report showed that India is ranked at 118 and Afghanistan at 147.

Pakistan is ranked at 109, while Iran is positioned higher at 99, which has a refugee population of 3.9%. Other countries facing refugee situations include Lebanon (1), Jordan (2), Montenegro (3), Turkey (4), and Czechia (5).

In the 2025 report, Pakistan’s ranking fell by one position, down from 109, which was at 108.

In South Asia, the rankings are as follows: India (118), Bangladesh (133), Sri Lanka (134), Afghanistan (147), Iran (99), and China (27).

According to the report, Finland remained the happiest country in the world, followed closely by Denmark and Iceland.

The top 15 happiest countries also included Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Belgium, and Ireland.

The report covers more than 147 countries, with Sierra Leone at 142, Lebanon at 143, Malawi at 144, and Zimbabwe at 143 positioned as the lowest-ranked.

The United States has fallen to its lowest-ever rank at 24, attributed to increasing unhappiness and loneliness.

Similarly, the United Kingdom is at 23, marking its lowest score since 2017.

The report’s ranking is based on the impact of “caring and sharing” on people’s levels of contentment and satisfaction.
