Egyptian and Emirati astronomers have released their predictions for the possible dates of Eid al-Fitr, based on astronomical calculations.

According to Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, there is a possibility of sighting the Shawwal moon on March 29 in 30 cities worldwide, including Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Ankara, Tehran, Muscat, Karachi, London, Moscow, and Ottawa.

Egyptian authorities predict that Ramadan will last 29 days, with the last fast on Saturday, March 29, and Eid al-Fitr expected to be celebrated on Sunday, March 30.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Al-Jarwan, Chairman of the Emirates Astronomy Society, stated that Eid could fall on either March 30 (Sunday) or March 31 (Monday) in the UAE. According to astronomical calculations, the Shawwal moon will be born at 2:58 PM on March 29, but with only three hours of visibility before sunset, sighting it may be difficult. If the moon is not visible, Eid will be observed on Monday, March 31.
