Junaid Akbar: Leadership to decide when to set up camp outside Adiala Jail
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Junaid Akbar has said that the party leadership will decide when to set up a protest camp outside Adiala Jail, with demonstrations expected after Eid.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Junaid Akbar dismissed reports of backdoor negotiations, stating, “I am not part of any talks, nor has anyone reached out to me. It is the government and institutions that are stuck in a dead end, not us.”
Access to PTI founder at Adiala Jail denied
Meanwhile, opposition leaders who arrived at Adiala Jail were denied permission to meet PTI’s imprisoned founder, prompting them to submit a formal request to the jail superintendent.

They condemned the Jaffar Express attack, called for the defence minister’s resignation, and urged the government to engage opposition parties in political dialogue.
Speaking outside the jail, PTI Senator Shibli Faraz, alongside MWM chief Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, emphasised that the country’s crises could only be resolved through political engagement with the PTI founder. “Our entire party condemns the Jaffar Express incident. Instead of addressing its failures, the government is blaming PTI’s social media for the situation. Pakistan’s issues require political solutions,” Shibli Faraz stated.
Allama Nasir Abbas stressed the need for political inclusivity, stating, “If the government wants to counter enemy narratives, it must reveal the truth to the public. All political leaders in jail should be released.”
The opposition leaders also accused the government of violating Islamabad High Court (IHC) orders by denying them access to the PTI founder. Their written request to the Adiala Jail superintendent stated, “We have been waiting at Gate 5 since 2 PM. The PTI founder has repeatedly requested to meet us, and we have submitted a list of visitors per standard protocols.”
The petition, signed by Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Junaid Akbar, and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, was drafted by PTI’s legal counsel, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
The opposition leaders further argued that denying access to the PTI founder violated his fundamental human rights and reminded the jail administration that they had previously assured the Islamabad High Court that party leaders would be allowed to meet him.
