A cache of weapons and hundreds of bullets was discovered buried in sacks during excavation work at a park in Karachi’s Surjani Town.

According to police, several firearms, including rifles, were unearthed as workers were digging at Sunrise Park in Surjani Sector L-1 for renovation and the construction of a walking track.

The recovered weapons will be sent for forensic examination.

The police confirmed that the cache included three submachine guns (SMGs), a light machine gun (LMG), multiple magazines, and a large number of bullets.

However, all the weapons are severely rusted and no longer functional.

Surjani Town Station House Officer (SHO) Ghulam Hussain Pirzada stated that the weapons appeared to be 20 to 25 years old. Given their unusable condition, no criminal case will be registered.

However, formal documentation of the recovery will be completed, and the weapons will be sent for forensic analysis.
