Students join teachers in protest against canal construction on Indus River
Students have joined teachers in a strong protest against the construction of new canals on the Indus River, taking to the streets in multiple districts of Sindh.
Demonstrations and rallies were held in Khairpur, Sujawal, and Naushahro Feroze, with participants demanding an immediate reversal of the decision.
In Khairpur, students from Shah Abdul Latif University marched to the national highway, chanting slogans against the canal project.
In Sujawal’s Chuhar Jamali area, a large number of teachers and students staged a protest rally.

Similarly, in Naushahro Feroze, students marched to the press club, raising concerns over the impact of new canals on Sindh’s agriculture.
Protesters warned that constructing additional canals would turn Sindh’s fertile lands barren.
“We will not allow anyone to deprive Sindh of its water,” they declared, urging authorities to scrap the project immediately.
