The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) conducted a raid in Sialkot and arrested Usman Jajja, the prime suspect in the Libya boat tragedy.

The accused faces more than eight human trafficking cases.

According to the FIA spokesperson, Usman Jajja was already in police custody in Sialkot when the tragic boat accident occurred. However, he secured bail and went into hiding after the incident.

The Foreign Office previously confirmed that 63 Pakistanis were onboard the ill-fated boat, which capsized near Libya’s Marsa Della port.

Initially, 10 people were reported dead, but the toll has since risen to 16.

Meanwhile, the FIA’s immigration team at Islamabad Airport uncovered a human trafficking network involved in smuggling Pakistani women to China under the guise of marriage.

Three suspects — Shugui (Yousaf), Abdul Rehman and Nauman — were arrested, along with a woman who was being trafficked.

The suspects lured women by promising jobs through arranged marriages with Chinese nationals.

They were caught attempting to board flight CZ6034 to China. Investigations revealed that the gang, which includes several women, collaborated with a Chinese agent named Paul, who arranged clients in exchange for hefty sums.

A day earlier, authorities had arrested four more suspects, including a woman, in a similar crackdown at Islamabad Airport.

The detainees were transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell for further investigation.
