Seven Pakistani survivors of Morocco boat tragedy repatriated

More groups of survivors are expected to arrive soon

Seven Pakistani survivors of a recent boat tragedy off the coast of Morocco have been repatriated, authorities announced today. The individuals were deported from Spain and Italy before returning to Pakistan.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) facilitated the return of the seven survivors. FIA investigative officers have already recorded statements from the returnees. According to these statements, the survivors reported being subjected to violence by human smugglers, and provided details about the smugglers to the authorities. The FIA has expanded its investigation based on this new information.

According to schedule, further groups of survivors are expected to arrive at Islamabad airport; one group on January 31st and another on February 1st.

Sources indicate that the Pakistani government and relevant agencies are actively working to ensure the return of all remaining survivors.

It is recalled that a boat carrying numerous Pakistani migrants recently capsized near Morocco. While several passengers lost their lives, 22 Pakistani nationals survived the incident.
