A shocking honey trap scheme has been uncovered in Lahore, where criminals used social media apps to lure young men, extort ransom, and subject them to physical abuse.

Police have arrested seven suspects, including two officers.

After targeting victims in rural areas, the gang expanded its operations to Lahore.

The mastermind, Asim, would upload suggestive photos of women along with contact details on social media to bait unsuspecting individuals.

Once a victim engaged, the women would pretend to befriend them and invite them to a flat in Kot Lakhpat.

During the meeting, uniformed police officers — who were part of the gang — would stage a raid, assault the victim, and rob them.

The seven-member gang included two police officers and a female polio worker. Police recovered explicit videos of several victims from the suspects’ mobile phones.

Authorities confirmed that the gang would threaten to leak these videos online if the victims refused to pay. So far, over 50 individuals have fallen prey to this scam.

During the raid, police seized seven mobile phones, handcuffs, a pistol, cash amounting to Rs. 55,000, and other incriminating materials.
