The victim had married for love just a few months before.
Police have taken both the suspect and her husband into custody for further investigation.
The gruesome incident took place in Muhammad Ali Colony, Liaquatabad.
The suspect, Sadia, a mother of five, allegedly attacked her co-wife, Tayyaba, while she was asleep.
She first knocked her unconscious by striking her head with a rolling pin and then slit her wrists, killing her.
The accused’s husband, Imran, worked at a house in Model Town, where he met Tayyaba, who was also employed there. The two developed a relationship and got married seven months ago, much to Sadia’s resentment.
The victim’s family claimed they were unaware of her second marriage. They had filed a missing persons report for Tayyaba at the Kot Lakhpat police station ten months ago.
Police have sent the body to the morgue and filed a murder case on behalf of the victim’s father.
Further investigations are underway. Tayyaba was a resident of Minchinabad and was the second of three siblings.
