Karachi sees two fatal robbery attempts amid rising street crime during Ramazan

Karachi continues to grapple with rising street crime during the holy month of Ramazan, as two more citizens lost their lives in an armed robbery attempt.

In a shocking turn of events, an injured suspect, initially taken to Jinnah Hospital by an enraged mob, was later found dead at the hospital after the crowd forcibly took him away.

A resident of the Quaidababd area fell victim to armed robbers near a poultry shop. The deceased, identified as Babar, was the owner of a swimming pool.

The assailants, two men on a motorcycle, opened fire, fatally wounding him.

Babar, a resident of Gulistan Society, sustained two gunshot wounds. According to police reports, locals overpowered one of the fleeing robbers and beat him to death.

Babar leaves behind a grieving family, including his wife, two daughters, and a son.

Police have collected evidence from the crime scene and launched a search operation to apprehend the accomplice, who managed to escape.

Another young life lost

Meanwhile, a young man, Waseem, succumbed to his injuries after being shot during a robbery attempt near the Punjab Bus Stand.

The suspects had tried to snatch his motorcycle before opening fire.

Waseem was critically wounded and transferred from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to Jinnah Hospital, where he later died.

Within just six hours, Karachi witnessed two more fatal shootings by robbers, bringing the total number of robbery-related deaths in the past four days to four.

So far this year, 19 people have lost their lives in armed robbery attempts across the city.

Growing unrest among citizens

In another incident, armed robbers looted a milk shop in Landhi and deprived three individuals of their mobile phones and cash.

Frustration among citizens has reached a boiling point, prompting residents of Quaidabad to stage a protest on the National Highway following Babar’s murder.

The demonstrators demanded immediate action from SSP Malir Kashif Abbasi, highlighting that two citizens had been killed in robbery attempts within 48 hours.

A police contingent arrived at the protest site to negotiate with the angry crowd.

Police crackdown on criminals

In a separate incident on Namak Bank Road in Buffer Zone, the Shaheen Force engaged in a shootout with armed robbers.

One suspect was killed, another was injured and arrested, while a third managed to escape.

Law enforcement recovered weapons from the injured suspect and launched a search operation for the fugitive.
