All 16 terrorists have been killed by security forces, including four suicide bombers, who attempted to breach the security of Bannu Cantonment.

“On 4 March 2025, a cowardly terrorist attack was attempted on Bannu Cantonment by Khwarij elements. The assailants sought to breach the cantonment’s security; however, their nefarious designs were swiftly and decisively foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of Pakistan’s security forces,” ISPR said in a news release.

ISPR has stated that intelligence reports have clearly confirmed the direct involvement of Afghan nationals in this attack.

Furthermore, ISPR emphasized that Pakistan expects the Afghan interim government to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent its territory from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.

“In their desperation, the attackers rammed two explosive-laden vehicles into the perimeter wall.”

It was further stated that the troops displayed unwavering courage and professional excellence as they engaged the intruders with precision, eliminating all sixteen terrorists, including four suicide bombers.

They reported that five brave soldiers, after putting up a heroic resistance, embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

The statement also affirmed that Pakistan’s security forces are committed to eradicating all forms of terrorism.

The statement noted that “several suicide bombings caused part of the outer wall of the cantonment to collapse, damaging nearby infrastructure.”

ISPR also confirmed that “a mosque and a residential building” were also severely affected, resulting in the “deaths of 13 innocent civilians and injuries to 32 others.”

Security forces successfully thwarted a terrorist attack on Bannu Cantonment after terrorists attempted to breach the area following Iftar on Monday.

Security officials reported that the attackers used two explosives-laden vehicles, which they crashed into the walls of the cantonment.

The impact of the blasts caused significant damage, including the partial destruction of a mosque and the collapse of a nearby house’s roof.

Security sources said that nine innocent civilians were martyred and 16 others injured in this attack.

The targeting of innocent civilians and a mosque during Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan by the khawarij terrorists indicates that they have no connection to Islam, they added.
