Shahzain Mari and guards’ assault case: Both parties reach settlement

A settlement has been reached between the parties involved in the assault case at Karachi’s Boat Basin, where armed men in a vehicle attacked civilians.

Speaking to Aaj News, victim Barkat Soomro stated that he forgave the attackers for the sake of Allah.

Barkat Soomro expressed gratitude to Aaj News for highlighting the incident.

He explained that his parents and elders were in contact with the other party, leading to reconciliation.

Political figures Mir Nadir Magsi, Nawab Gazain Mari, Saeed Ghani and Nasir Hussain Shah were present during the negotiations.

Soomro recounted that the accused admitted their wrongdoing and even offered to pay any fine.

However, he chose to forgive them, saying it was a decision made in good faith.

According to South Police, they became aware of the settlement through media reports but have not received any official legal confirmation.

Authorities stated that if Shahzain Mari is found in Karachi, he will be arrested, and the case will proceed to court.

The case was registered on February 21 based on a complaint by Barkat Soomro.

The assault took place on the night of February 19 at Boat Basin, where Shahzain Mari and his armed guards brutally attacked Soomro and his friend without any apparent reason.

The incident gained attention after a video of the attack went viral, prompting police action.

Seven suspects, including four guards of Shahzain Mari, were arrested, and weapons were recovered from their possession, according to DIG South.
