Water tanker claims another innocent life in Karachi
Another life was lost to a water tanker accident in Karachi, as a 10-year-old boy was crushed under its wheels near Cafe Piyala.
The young boy, Saim, was filling water from the tanker when the driver reversed, fatally running him over.
Police have taken the tanker and the driver into custody and initiated legal proceedings.
Saim, a Buffer Zone Block 16-A’s KB Society resident, had just collected water from a filtration plant when he was caught under the moving tanker.
The enraged locals attacked the driver, vandalising the vehicle by breaking its windows before police intervened and took him into custody.
The victim’s uncle, Abdul Razzaq, blamed unchecked water tankers roaming freely in residential areas for frequent accidents.
Saim’s grandfather urged strict enforcement of heavy traffic restrictions, while his uncle revealed that the boy was the eldest of five siblings and a fourth-grade student.
Despite repeated efforts, deadly dumpers and trailers remain uncontrolled in Karachi.
