PTI to expel lawmakers defying party policy: Salman Akram Raja
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja has confirmed that the decision to remove Sher Afzal Marwat from the party was made by Imran Khan himself.
He warned that lawmakers failing to adhere to party policies on the PECA law and the 26th Constitutional Amendment will also face expulsion.
Speaking on Aaj TV’s programme “Spotlight” with host Munizae Jahangir, Raja stated that any member who acted against party directives on the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and the 26th Constitutional Amendment would be removed from PTI.

“Some members displayed suspicious conduct regarding the amendment bill. Disciplinary action will be taken against them,” he emphasised.
Raja also addressed Sher Afzal Marwat’s recent controversial remarks about the Saudi government, stating that such statements were not within his mandate and had caused significant damage to PTI.
The PTI leader made it clear that no one in the party is allowed to use offensive language, especially against fellow members.
He criticised the inappropriate remarks made against him and other PTI leaders on television, adding that while such behaviour disrupts party discipline, PTI remains unified.
Taking a swipe at former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Raja dismissed him as an irrelevant figure who makes controversial statements just to stay in the spotlight.
He also accused the ruling regime of engaging in authoritarian tactics, pointing out the hundreds of fabricated cases filed against Imran Khan. “We are facing the courts, and we will also take to the streets in protest,” he asserted, dismissing any notion that a mob could storm in and forcibly release Imran Khan.
Ehsan Mani criticises ICC
Earlier, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) for failing to play its role in ensuring India’s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
“The ICC should have taken a more active role in securing India’s visit. Pakistan should have raised this issue at the right time,” Mani said.
He also blamed PCB’s lack of planning for the uncertainty surrounding the tournament.
Sports analyst Dr Nauman Niaz weighed in on the situation, stating that political tensions between India and Pakistan continue to overshadow cricket.
“We don’t know when political narratives will change, but credit goes to PCB for securing the Champions Trophy in Pakistan,” he said.
He lamented that India’s refusal to play in Pakistan was ultimately a loss for cricket, as millions of fans from both countries love the sport.
“Cricket has the power to bring people together, but unfortunately, political disputes are keeping them apart,” he concluded.
