Corruption, economic ruin, inflation, and misconduct were the ‘gifts’ of change: Nawaz Sharif

Country’s progress was derailed, politics turned into hatred and revenge, says former PM

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming that corruption, economic destruction, inflation, and misconduct were the true outcomes of the so-called ‘change’ brought by the previous government.

Speaking at a meeting with Punjab Assembly members, he stated that his party’s vision remains focused on national progress and providing relief from inflation.

During the meeting, which included lawmakers from Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, and Bahawalnagar divisions, Nawaz Sharif expressed regret over what he termed as the deliberate derailing of the country’s progress.

“It is unfortunate that a developing nation was thrown off track. Politics was poisoned with indecency, hatred, and revenge, leading to the destruction of both the economy and democratic values,” he asserted.

The former prime minister credited his brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for pulling Pakistan back from the brink of economic collapse.

“Through hard work and consistent policies, we have restored economic stability, ensuring sustainable growth,” he said.

He also pointed out that under the PML-N’s leadership, Pakistan had once bid farewell to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the party remains committed to national prosperity.

Punjab Assembly members praised the leadership of Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif, stating that their governance was synonymous with fulfilling promises and serving the country.

“Every corner of Pakistan bears the mark of their development efforts,” they remarked. They also lauded Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for revitalising the province and leading an inclusive development agenda.

Referring to Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts, the lawmakers highlighted how his ‘Shehbaz Speed’ approach helped revive the IMF programme and saved Pakistan from default.

They also acknowledged Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, emphasising that she has proven herself through both political struggle and governance.

“The demand for Maryam Nawaz’s governance is now being felt in every province,” they added.

The meeting also discussed the launch of the ‘Green Pakistan’ initiative in Cholistan, which aims to revolutionise the agricultural sector by providing farmers with modern equipment, resources, and agricultural malls under one roof.

Concluding the session, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her commitment to public service, calling it a challenge she has embraced with determination. She expressed gratitude to the party leadership for entrusting her with this responsibility.

Senior party leaders, including Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Rana Sanaullah, Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and Rashid Nasrullah, were also present in the meeting, where discussions were held on future political strategies and public welfare projects.
