The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted cold and dry weather in various parts of the country.

“Light rain-thunderstorm (with light snowfalls over the hills) is expected at isolated places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and northwestern Balochistan,” the PMD said in its daily update on Monday.

Cold and dry conditions dominated most regions of the country, though light rain and light snow were reported in isolated areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday.

The rainfall measurements over the last 24 hours were as follows: Malam Jabba (4mm), Pattan (3mm), and 1mm each in Mir Khani, Chitral, and Dir.

“A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and moving northeastward,” the Met Office said.

“A fresh westerly wave will likely approach Balochistan tomorrow [Tuesday] by evening or night.”

Rain accompanied by wind (with snowfall in the hilly areas) is expected in GB, the upper and western parts of KP, northwestern Balochistan, Kashmir, and nearby hilly regions for tomorrow.

Rain with wind (and snowfall in mountainous areas) are expected in Islamabad, Murree, Galliyat, the Pothohar Region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and northern Balochistan with isolated light rain along with gusty winds in upper Punjab on February 19.
