Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker Sher Afzal Marwat, who was expelled from the party last night, has said that he would speak to the national media on Thursday (today).

“I have always remained loyal to PTI and Khan Sahib, and I continue to stand by my principles. I am deeply saddened by the recent decision, which seems influenced by individuals who have never accepted me within the party,” he said in a post on X.

“However, I refuse to engage in personal conflicts. My only allegiance has always been to the vision of Imran Khan, not to any faction within PTI.”

PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi had issued the notification of his expulsion. Reports said that the decision was made on the instructions of jailed party founder Imran Khan.

The decision came after several party leaders reportedly complained to Khan about Marwat’s “conduct” at a political rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Swabi.

In the recent past, the lawmaker, known for his outspoken demeanour, has openly spoken against party leaders including Salman Akram Raja. But the senior leadership has described such developments as “difference of opinion” within the party.

Marwat was given a show-cause notice for his comments against Raja during a live TV show. The PTI lawmaker has claimed that he is among those party leaders who supported the PTI when many leaders went into hiding amid the crackdown.

“I recognize the immense challenges Khan Sahib faces, including limited access to information and the presence of individuals who may not always act in the party’s best interest,” Marwat said and added that he would address his “position on national media tonight, and I trust that PTI workers, who have fought for justice alongside me, will continue to stand for what is right.”

He went on to add that he would never waver in his “commitment to the truth” despite the party’s decision. “If this decision is not reconsidered, I will accept it with dignity, but I urge all PTI leaders and workers—those who stood together during the most difficult times—to speak up against injustice.”
