PTI expels Sher Afzal Marwat, notification issued
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has expelled Sher Afzal Marwat from the party, with an official notification issued confirming his removal.
Sher Afzal Marwat reacted to the decision, stating that party members repeatedly defamed him and that constant online trolling had affected his health.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he remarked that the PTI founder is easily influenced and believes everything people tell him.
He also alleged that a conspiratorial woman played a role in his expulsion.
According to the notification, Marwat was expelled on the instructions of the PTI founder. The decision came after reviewing his response to a show-cause notice and assessing his actions.
The notification was issued by PTI Additional Secretary General Firdous Shamim Naqvi.
According to sources, PTI founder Imran Khan has instructed party leaders to revoke Marwat’s basic membership.
The decision comes after several party leaders reportedly complained to Imran Khan about Marwat’s conduct at a political rally in Swabi.
Sources say concerns were raised over his role at the event, prompting leadership to take disciplinary action.
Marwat’s discontent at Swabi rally
On February 8, during a PTI rally in Swabi, Marwat was denied a place on stage and was not given the opportunity to speak.
Expressing his frustration, he later stated that he was neither provided a proper seat nor allowed to address the gathering.
“If the leadership was unhappy with my presence, they should have informed me beforehand,” he remarked.
Marwat clarified that he attended the event solely out of loyalty to Imran Khan. He further said, “If my participation is a problem for the leadership, they should let me know.”
The rally also saw a heated exchange between Marwat and PTI leader Salman Akram Raja. During Raja’s speech, Marwat reportedly led chants against him from the stage, escalating tensions within the party ranks.
With Marwat’s removal now imminent, PTI is expected to formally sever ties with the outspoken leader in the coming days.
