The Central Superior Services (CSS) exam 2024 results would be announced in the last week of April, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) chairman informed the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday.

IHC judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani presided over a hearing of appeal seeking to stay the upcoming CSS exam.

FPSC Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Akhtar Nawaz Satti was due to appear in the high court today. The petitioner, Hamza Javed, along with his lawyer Ali Raza Advocate, appeared in court.

Hundreds of candidates appearing for the CSS exams were concerned about their future after the FPSC announced dates for the CSS 2025 exams which would begin on February 15 (Saturday).

In a press conference on February 8, several students demanded the postponement of the exams until the results of the 2024 CSS exams are announced.

Students have expressed frustration over the delayed announcement of the CSS 2024 results, claiming it adversely affects their readiness for the upcoming 2025 exams. They argue that the “insufficient time” for preparation, combined with the FPSC’s erratic scheduling, creates a “stressful and unfair testing environment.”

They pointed out notable exam delays, including a 41-day postponement of the 2025 CSS Mandatory Preliminary Test. The FPSC announces results in October, but this year’s delay has caused “considerable anxiety, especially for older candidates.” Those aged 29 and 30 face ineligibility for the 2026 exam due to age limits, leaving them with few alternatives if the 2024 results are not released soon.

The FPSC chairman stated that the petitioner’s request was rejected because applicants would still have opportunities even after the 2025 examinations. He noted that one petitioner had already exhausted all chances and was not affected by the decision.

A total of 88 examination halls have been booked across the country for the CSS examinations, and all relevant papers have been dispatched.

Additional Attorney General Dougal announced that the examinations are set to commence on February 15. The law permitted the FPSC to conduct the next examination even if the previous results had not been announced, he added.

Delaying such examinations could lead to issues of “secrecy” as well, the additional attorney general said.

The court reserved its decision on the request to prevent new examinations before the announcement of the CSS 2024 results.
