Fakhar Zaman calls for bonus runs for sixes Over 90 meters

Zaman also addressed his omission from the team

Pakistan cricket opener Fakhar Zaman has called for a rule change awarding bonus runs for sixes exceeding 90 meters, just days before the start of the Champions Trophy.

In an interview with Salman Butt on a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) podcast, Zaman suggested that sixes clearing 90 meters should be rewarded with two additional runs.

Zaman also addressed his omission from the team, clarifying that an injury, and the subsequent delay in diagnosis, hampered his return. He stated he was trying to regain form through domestic cricket, describing his post-illness return as feeling like he was playing for the first time again.

He refuted suggestions linking a tweet about Babar Azam to his exclusion from the playing eleven, stating that many people had asked him the same question, and while he tried to explain, fans often interpret things as they wish.

Regarding a potential opening partnership with Babar Azam in the Champions Trophy, Zaman expressed confidence in his One Day International (ODI) skills and expressed his ambition to perform strongly against top teams.

He acknowledged the media hype surrounding matches against India creates pressure, but stated the team prepares like any other match, focusing on skills rather than additional training.

Recalling the 2017 Champions Trophy, Zaman highlighted the learning opportunities he gained from senior players like Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Junaid Khan, specifically mentioning Sarfaraz’s guidance.
