Shakira says she has ‘grown’ since split from Gerard Piqué in 2022
Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira has revealed that she has “grown” since her break up with Spanish former footballer Gerard Piqué in 2022.
In her acceptance speech at the Grammys, she described herself as a “she-wolf,” as she is “still here.”
“I’ve learned a lot of lessons. Life hasn’t always been kind, but it’s been a good teacher,” she said.
“Five years ago, I was also at the Super Bowl, also on my birthday. So, it’s a coincidence that these big moments always happen on my birthday. Maybe it’s some sort of heavenly present.”
Shakira dedicated the award to all her immigrant brothers and sisters in the country, expressing that “they are loved, worth it, and that she would always fight alongside them.”
“And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true shoes. So this is for you, too,” the singer added.
“It’s different now,” she said while speaking regarding her perspective on love. “The love of a partner let me down. It impacted my way of thinking. For now, it’s unavoidable that I have lost “trust” in others. The healing journey is “lengthy.”
Shakira’s interview was released shortly after Piqué commented on their public breakup, suggesting that “the truth” has not yet been revealed.
The couple has two sons, Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, from their 12-year relationship.
