Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts rain
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weekly weather outlook for Pakistan, covering the period from January 31 to February 6, 2025. For most plain areas of the country, the forecast predicts predominantly cold and dry weather throughout the week.
However, significant variations are expected in the mountainous regions and certain northern areas.
On Friday, January 31, light rain or light snowfall is anticipated in isolated locations within upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, mainly overnight. This pattern of localized precipitation continues into Saturday, February 1, extending to isolated areas of northeast Punjab, along with the previously mentioned regions.
Sunday, February 2, brings a continuation of cold and dry weather to the plains, with very cold conditions expected in the hills. Cloudy conditions are anticipated in Kashmir, Murree, and Galliyat.
Monday, February 3rd, sees a potential increase in precipitation, with cloudy conditions and a chance of rain, wind, or snowfall in western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, the Pothohar region, and northeast/central Punjab.
Tuesday, February 4, is forecast to bring rain and wind to several areas, accompanied by snowfall in mountainous regions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pothohar region, northeast/central Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. The remaining days, Wednesday and Thursday (February 5 and 6), are expected to return to predominantly cold and dry conditions across the plains, with very cold temperatures persisting in hilly areas. Northern areas will likely experience partly cloudy and very cold weather.
