Talks that aim to make us forget elections unacceptable: Raja

The PTI leader reiterated the party's demand for an impartial judicial commission

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has rejected ongoing negotiations with the government, stating that talks aimed at making the nation forget the elections are unacceptable.

In an interview with Aaj News’ program “News Insight with Amir Zia,” Raja declared the end of negotiations with the government, although he confirmed that talks with other parties and the public continue.

Raja emphasized the PTI’s commitment to restoring the Pakistani constitution, describing the current situation as a “dark night” for the nation. He called upon all Pakistanis to reject the current system and work towards a brighter future. He highlighted what he sees as the suppression of public voices as Pakistan’s fundamental problem, criticizing the current system as a haven for the elite. He warned of increasing government oppression and tyranny.

The PTI leader reiterated the party’s demand for an impartial judicial commission to investigate past events and bring the truth to the nation. He rejected the possibility of any in-house committee, stating it would lack public credibility. He linked the current political turmoil to the events of May 9th, arguing that the crackdown on PTI following the events is unjustified, and that the victims of November 26th still await justice.

Raja stated that the PTI’s decision to withdraw from the fourth round of negotiations was made in response to what he described as a government crackdown, mockery of their demands, and an attack on PTI spokesperson Hamid Raza’s madrasa.

He asserted that the PTI is not in a hurry and aims for complete systemic change, expressing confidence in the party’s resilience in the face of government reprisals. He further stated that any oppression faced by the PTI would reflect the state’s failure, and expressed complete confidence in Ali Amin Gandapur.
