Man kills 18-year-old sister for ‘honour’ in Karachi
A brother shot dead his 18-year-old sister for honour in Karachi’s Orangi Town on Thursday, police said.
The victim was murdered in Bakra Piri, Banaras as she chose to marry someone of her liking, they added.
The suspect fled the scene “immediately” after the shooting, the police claimed as they investigated the killing.
“Efforts are under way to apprehend the perpetrator,” Superintendent Police Faheem Farooqi said.
A similar situation happened on July 28, 2024, when a father was arrested for allegedly killing his two daughters in the name of ‘honour’ in Sheikhupura.
Also, another accident took place that a man in Kabirwala allegedly murdered his mother and three sisters in the name of ‘honour’ on June 21, 2024.

Data from the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reveals that ‘honour’ killings remain a significant concern throughout the country in 2024, with particularly high incidents reported in Sindh and Punjab. Between January and November, a total of 346 individuals were victims of these crimes.
The trend has been concerning, as the previous two years also recorded a steady increase in murders linked to the so-called ‘honour’ killings.
