Govt team prepares written reply to PTI’s demands

The next meeting's date is likely to be announced soon

The government’s negotiating team has finalized its response to the written demands submitted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Sources within the government reveal that the response rejects the PTI’s call for a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9th, citing the ongoing court proceedings and military court convictions related to the incidents.

The government’s written reply argues that judicial commissions are formed only for matters not already under judicial consideration. Since cases related to the May 9th events are already before the courts, including those resulting in convictions by military courts, the formation of a separate judicial commission is deemed unnecessary.

The government’s response further requests clarification from the PTI regarding their claims. Specifically, it demands a list of missing persons from November 26 and detailed information about those arrested.

The government argues that without this information, it cannot take action regarding their release. Similarly, the government requests detailed information about alleged casualties to facilitate a serious investigation into those claims.

Sources indicate that the government committee will submit its written response to the National Assembly Speaker, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, within the next few days. After receiving the government’s response, the Speaker will consult with both sides before deciding on the date for the fourth round of negotiations.
