NADRA issues clarification regarding ‘Resident of AJK State’ entry on CNIC
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a statement addressing recent rumours regarding changes to the policy concerning the imprint of ‘Resident of AJK State’ on Computerized National Identity Cards.
To obtain the ‘Resident of AJK State’ imprint, applicants must provide a valid State Subject Certificate (Class 1, 2, or 3) issued by the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Without this certificate, NADRA cannot imprint the residency status on the CNICs.
In some instances, the absence of the imprint may be due to an applicant’s failure to submit the required certificate or errors made by data entry operators during the CNIC processing.
NADRA has taken proactive steps to rectify such issues, reaching out to affected applicants to arrange for the free re-issuance of CNICs with the correct imprint where applicable.
For those who did not submit the necessary State Subject Certificate during their initial application, NADRA encourages reapplication and submission of the required documentation, along with the relevant fees, to obtain a corrected CNIC.
