Fans outraged over microphone issues during PSL draft
Many fans have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media regarding the “poor production quality” of the Pakistan Super League draft.
At the event, Lahore Qalandars selected New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell as their first pick, aiming to bolster their batting lineup. Australia’s David Warner was the most expensive player of this season.
Karachi Kings made a significant addition by signing renowned New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson during the supplementary draft round.
But the users were not satisfied with the management when they saw that the microphone stopped working.
“Shocking production for PSL draft. After 10 years, how can you get it so, so wrong,” one of the users, named Ahmed, wrote on X. “One of the worst I have seen.”
Several users pointed out that at one point, Shaheen’s microphone was not working, forcing some teams to announce their selected players without a working mic.
“How badly [are] these HBL PSL Drafts being conducted[?] No Mics no coordination. This happens when you have poor management,” another user, named Mohsin Aziz, said.
The issue began at the start of the draft when Lahore Qalandars picked their first player. Captain Shaheen Shah Afridi mentioned “Daryl Mitchell,” but his voice didn’t reach the stage. He had to repeat the name multiple times.
Karachi Kings’ captain Shan Masood faced a similar situation when he tried to say “David Warner.” On this occasion, Hasan Ali helped him by loudly calling out “David Warner.”
This made the participants laugh, and broadcaster Dominic Cork smiled as he said that Hasan Ali didn’t need a mic.
Quetta Gladiators’ coach Mohin Khan also experienced microphone failure, and his announcement of “Tom Kohler-Cadmore” was not heard.
According to journalist Rizwan Ali, only one microphone was working during the event, which was being used by six franchises.

A social media user sarcastically commented that “more than half the time has been spent on mic checks and fixing the mic.”
Another user questioned, “If the mics aren’t working in the PSL draft, what will happen during the Champions Trophy?”
