Former Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed would be seen in a “new and transitional role” in the Pakistan Super League franchise after being going unpicked in the PSL player draft, the team owner and coach have said.

“He will take on a new role with Quetta, primarily focused on coaching,” Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar said at a press conference in Lahore on Monday.

Head coach Moin Khan, who accompanied him at the event, also confirmed it to the reporters.

“You will see him in next season under the new role.”

Ahmed was left out of the PSL 10 draft, with no franchise selecting him.

Cricket fans started to theorise that Sarfaraz would be selected by his hometown team, Karachi Kings.
