Dubai’s new family programme offers 10 days of paid marriage leave
Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the wife of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has unveiled the new family programme named after her, aimed at bolstering family growth and wellbeing in the city.
The initiative offers financial, social, and educational support to enhance community values and promote a balanced work-life dynamic, Gulf News reported.
In a statement, Sheikha Hind highlighted that the programme embodies Sheikh Mohammed’s vision for “strengthening family stability and reinforcing the family’s role as the foundation of a unified society.” It aligns with national priorities to uplift Emirati families, the report said.
“Strong families are vital for a brighter future. We are dedicated to meeting the aspirations of every Emirati family in Dubai, ensuring their lasting happiness and stability while empowering them to raise future generations capable of shaping a better tomorrow,” she stated.
The ‘Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum Family Programme’ initiative includes: wedding support, housing assistance, flexible work policies, educational programmes on social, financial, and housing awareness.
Aligning with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, the programme aims to “cultivate happy, connected families while doubling the number of Emirati households in the emirate by 2033.”
In its initial phase, the programme introduces initiatives in collaboration with the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, including 10 days of paid marriage leave for government employees in Dubai and a remote work option on Fridays for mothers during their first year after maternity leave
The Dubai Weddings Programme has reduced housing loan premiums for its beneficiaries. Monthly premiums have been lowered to a minimum of Dh3,333 for those earning up to Dh30,000.
The initiative covers the main costs of wedding ceremonies, provides free wedding halls, and neighbourhood Majlises. It extends financial support to both partners and offers discounts via the Esaad card.
